The realm of fantasy in the Herb Island

Warm and gentle sunlight, dazzling party dresses, Italian hand-crafted masks, the Mediterranean stream infused with herbal scents…when it comes to a cozy afternoon on a gondola, most would think of Venezia in Italy. The fact is, however, you can enjoy all this in Korea! Herb Island, located in Pocheon, Gyeonggi Province, has the biggest indoor herb garden in Korea. It also has a miniature version of Venezia, the city of water,
and Fontana di Trevi, a famous fountain of Italy. Visitors can enjoy a variety of European culture here; you can watch, eat, and massage 180 different kinds of herbs in Herb Island. So come and relax this weekend; give yourself an “aromatic” holiday!

In 1998, “Herb Island” was opened with only 1 building; as it became popular year by year, the number of building has also increased, now accounting more than 12 buildings and some 60 employees working in the Island. Here you can visit the 7,000m2 indoor herb garden, the 33,000m2 outdoor garden, and the herb museum which exhibit almost 200 different herbs annually. Watching herbs is not the only thing you can do; you can eat or drink them while enjoying various menus in the restaurants located in the Island! After tasting herb rice, pork cutlet, flower tea and herbal baguette, go to the herb market or souvenir shop where you can try more herbal products. Or, why don’t you make one by yourself? This is the perfect place to flatter your senses


If you enjoyed a gondola-ride in Venezia Village and threw coins at Fontana di Trevi, now it’s time to make your own herbal products in “Un Petit Village.” Un Petit Village is a recreated version of a French farming house; you can register in the experience program and make herb-based cheese, jam, wine, oil, butter, candles and more.
